IIT Kanpur (part 2)
I realized that my last post about my B tech days nostalgia had so much to do about the time I had spent outside classes. Well, I have to accept that I had been unfair, for classes were as much worth mentioning as was anything outside class.
Orientation - First year - getting on - not so easy
Amma - behenein - protection – instructions - upheavals outside GH?? - most scary - amma’s ammaien - vulture eyeing preys - the little innocent creatures - us.
Orientation continues - threats outside GH – LHC – limited to face charmers - tortured / lassu - ized
Following is the progression of my thoughts in class … here it goes
(Please Note - BLANK in the following account directly implies sleeping , "-" implies pause, "--" implies double pause and so on)
class MTH101 – delta – limits – infinitesimal – bed – BLANK –- BLANK –-- BLANK - ooops am falling off the chair – peep – peep at – what are neighbors writing – ohh horrible writing - cannot read a word - tsch tsch – concentrate – first year fail? - NO! - what is he saying –- epsilon ---– tend to – something –- something --- hopeless — BLANK -– BLANK –------ whatever….
Come back to room – someone sleeping in the room – ohh thank god- sleep again – BLANK
Second year - changes in lifestyle – classes
Shifted to single seater – no one to provide impetus to study – lovable computer comes to the room – emails – music - etc. – study – chemistry – not again.
Morning ! - wake up - 7:55 am – maths class - MTH 103 - 8: 00 am – understanding -- something – writing –- something – probably, understood it right –- anyway ------ tringgg --
- ESO212 – gupta ji teaching something – chunks - flows - chunk - boundary line –- boring ---- %&* --- BLANK – BLANK –- BLANK ---- tringg !! -- ------ rush to next class, next building block -
Metallurgy (matti) class – another gupta ji teaching – thermo – states – transformation – curves -- what is going on ?? –--- hopeless - BLANK –- BLANK –-- gupta ji calling – gupta ji asking if I need some tea? – thinking how to shut up him – gupta ji continues – BLANK –-- BLANK –-- gupta ji shouting something – directing towards me – pinky singh regretting sitting next to me –--- trinnngggg – thank god !! - full stop
Third year and encounters with dearly chemical engineering
All subjects - OPEN BOOK – life comes back to life – chemical something – CPI – no not cumulative performance index – it is chemical process industries – Ghatak ji speaking something – H2SO4 manufacturing process -- salt making process --- encyclopedia –-- distillation – etc. etc. – Mr Joshi speaking / squeaking ---
– Mr Bandop speaking – or repeating – or over repeating -- over over repeating??
Mr JP Gupta ji speaking – heat transfer –- bhopal gas tragedy (gupta ji's favorite topic)–-- exchangers (yet another favorite)- why?? –- Exam day - open notes – open book - confusion –-
Separation processes – distillation –- distillation – phase – state – curves – etc etc. -- useful??
– Mr Garg – bio – molecules – rubbish - rubbish – I don’t know –- who knows --- we all don’t know…
Mr Sharma – nanotechnology – drops - distances between - when - stability – stability – Mr X speaking - materials - cannot hear -- dump it completely.
